Principles

If you're weighing whether to build something with me — as a co-founder, hire, investor, or partner — this is the honest version of how I operate. Not aspirational. How I actually try to work, on a good day.

  1. Truth over polish

    I would rather be honestly uncertain than confidently wrong — in systems and in conversations. A graceful “I don’t know” beats a fluent fabrication every time.

  2. Be precise about where caution is owed

    Move fast on the reversible; slow all the way down on the irreversible. Most things are reversible, so most of the time we move.

  3. Context over control

    I transfer the why, not the tickets. If I catch myself assigning tasks, I’ve already failed to share enough of the picture.

  4. Make failure observable first

    If you can’t see it fail in a metric, a log, or a replay, you can’t trust it. We build the seeing before we build the speed.

  5. Disagree in the open, then commit

    Unspoken disagreement kills small teams faster than loud argument. We debate honestly, decide once, together, and stop relitigating in side channels.

  6. Grow for slope, not intercept

    I care more about how fast someone gets better than where they start. People who enjoy being wrong on the way to being right thrive when the ground keeps shifting.

  7. Keep it human

    Low-ego, down-to-earth, allergic to hype. The work is serious; we don’t have to be. Family and a life outside the building are features, not bugs.

What it's actually like to work with me

  • I’ll over-explain the reasoning behind a decision. Some people find it excessive — I’ve decided that’s the right error to make.
  • I protect deep-work time aggressively, and I expect you to protect yours.
  • I change my mind when the evidence changes, and I’ll say so out loud rather than quietly reverse.
  • I’m direct about what’s broken — including my own calls. If that ever reads as blunt, tell me; I’d much rather know.
  • We’re building a company, so some seasons are intense. I try to be honest about which season we’re in, and not pretend every week is the same.
